Arielle Carrara of Austin, TX, graduated May 17 from Rice University.

Carrara received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music.

Dr. Helene Gayle, president and CEO of the global poverty-fighting organization CARE USA, delivered the commencement address.

Rice University President David Leebron congratulated the graduates, wished them success and thanked them for the contributions they made during their years at Rice.

This year Rice awarded 1,896 degrees, including 986 undergraduate and undergraduate professional degrees and 910 graduate degrees (master's and Ph.D.).

The Class of 2014 is the 101st graduating class in Rice's history.
